Anglian Section Notes June 2018

At our April club night Anglian member Mel Vinton gave us a talk on the world's most beautiful motorcycle. While we probably all have our own views on which machine should be the title holder in that respect,  Mel did actually give an interesting observation on the design features that had taken place during the classic period of motorcycle building, and the influences that had taken place from sources such as Art Deco and Bauhaus design.  In Mel’s opinion this culminated in the amazing BMW R7 concept. Although the R7 is over 70 years old, it could almost be a contemporary design. It was shelved as WWII approached, and put in a box. In 2005, that box was opened, and BMW Classic started the restoration. June is a busy month for riding, but I will mention the Fenland Gallop on the 3rd, starting from the Green Welly at Chatteris.
