Sunday, August 4 saw this year’s Hobbsons Choice Run take place from Orchard Farm, organised by Mike Hobbs, assisted by Drew Down. 48 riders rode the morning route , which was nearly 70 miles, with a stop for lunch at a new venue, a Golf Club at Toft. A further 25 miles returned us to Orchard Farm, where Mike’s family had laid on a splendid tea and home made cake buffet for us all. After the raffle had taken place, trophies were awarded to the winners, namely Eadric Lloyd (Best Two Stroke),1963 Ariel Arrow, and Frank Dolman (Best 1950s Machine), 1959 BSA A10, which he had owned since its year of manufacture! Mel Vinton put on two runs during August, the first was to see his ever increasing family of tortoises plus a cake extravaganza, the second was a return visit to see the windmill restoration that he’s involved in.
