In December our speaker was Over resident Les Cook, who, together with local historian Caroline, told us about the Cook family’s long time responsibility of keeping Over’s oil street lamps maintained and lit, during the early part of the 20th Century. Additionally, they showed us images of early motorcycles in Over, from photos recovered from skips by Caroline. We have agreed to try and positively identify as many of these machines as possible. This information can then be added to the Over historical records, and we will be able to retain a copy of these images for ourselves. An example of two different interests coming together for the mutual good, methinks. The February club night is the Bring and Buy evening, so this is your chance to pass on some of that unwanted clutter from your garages.
