Fowlmere Airfield Museum and visit to Mel Vinton’s

August the 8th started off with a meet up at Waresley garden centre in the morning for coffee at 10.30am.
We all buckled up and set off for a ride through the villages stopping for lunch at the Silver Ball at Read, suitably fed with copious amounts of pig we set off again lead by Mel Vinton to Fowlmere for a private viewing of the Fowlmere Airfield Museum, a fascinating collection of WW1 and WW2 photographs and memorabilia found around the airfield all housed in part of an original Nissan hut.
Not ending there the day finished on a high with Mel leading the pack to his home where we were treated with what seemed like an endless supply of cake, tea and coffee , courtesy of Mel’s lady wife Jill, a guided tour of the Tortoises finished of an amazing day.
