Following the Extraordinary AGM at the last club night held at the Fulbourn Sports and Social Centre the committee was up for election, the section found it was in a position where we needed
to fill crucial positions.
At this point we must recognise the excellent way in which Roger Newark has dealt with the
position of Secretary for the past 13 years, a gentleman, efficient, calm and fair minded man you’ll go a long way to meet.. Thank you Roger you’ll be a tough act to follow.
At this point it would have been interesting to report on the rush of volunteers to stand for the secretary’s position on the committee, enough said.
Since then Roger has informed us that Martyn Blunt has stepped forward to take the position of secretary and so secure the future of the section, Well done Martyn.
Tom and Martin Gilby both have both stood down from the committee, Tom having served 35 years, it must be said goes beyond the call of duty, not only a dedicated member of the VMCC but one of the most knowledgeable men regarding motorcycles, always willing to offer assistance or help to anyone regarding these infuriating machines.
Every club/ section cannot function without a committee, some members just turn up, enjoy an evening chat or have a great day out riding with like minded friends throughout the year. These things don’t just happen they are organised, people put themselves out, they take the time to plan, arrange and communicate these events so others can enjoy themselves.
There are positions on the committee that need filling, ask yourself, could I spare just a few minutes now and then to see the future of our club secured.
