Anglian Section Notes October 2018

In September we had a fascinating presentation from fellow VMCC member John Connolly, aka “Bomber John”, who gave us a talk on his ten years as a Cold War Vulcan bomber pilot. He began by taking us through what it was like to respond to a QRA (Quick Reaction Alert), when the aircrews didn't know whether there would be an airfield, or even a country, to return to, after having released a nuclear weapon up on the enemy, or whether it was merely a practice. Despite the seriousness of the job that he did, his talk was not without a good measure of humour. At our November meeting we will be having a talk by Gordon Parker on a certain Stevenage built machine that starts with “V”.
